Piper grew up in rural New Hampshire, the daughter of an accountant and a teacher, with a younger sister, a horse, three cats, and a black lab named Curly who carried logs from the woodpile into the house on cold winter nights so the humans didn't have to. Piper started acting at the age of 6 at the American Stage Festival and Andy's Summer Playhouse. She also studied extensively in her living room with teachers like Lily Tomlin, Betty Buckley, Carol Burnett, Cher, and the movie Beaches.
Now, Piper is an actress, teacher, and Audie Award-winning audiobook narrator. She has recorded over 200 titles for major publishers including Audible Studios, Audible Theater, Harper Audio, MacMillan, Simon & Schuster, Dreamscape, Tantor Media, Highbridge, and Podium Audio. Some recent favorites include Letters to an Astrophysicist by Neil deGrasse Tyson, Camp Red Moon by R.L Stine, Creatures by Crissy Van Meter, The Other Mrs. by Mary Kubica, and No Judgements by Meg Cabot. Passionate about the craft of narration, Piper has taught audiobook narration at The Museum of the Moving Image, Syracuse University, Marymount Manhattan, the Weston Playhouse, ACX University, and currently guest teaches at Stonestreet Studios at NYU/Tisch School of the Arts. She produced and directed #SOBLESSED by Annoying Actor Friend to benefit BC/EFA, read by Broadway stars Alan Cumming, Megan Hilty, and Brian Dennehy, among others.
As an actress, Piper has performed Off-Broadway and in regional theaters across the country, London and Canada, and earned a Drama League Award nomination for Distinguished Performance for Anne in Anne of Green Gables. She holds an MFA from Brown University/Trinity Rep.
